July 21 - August 7
Stowe Theatre Guild Presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee centers around a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups.

July 21 - August 7
Crossroads Motorcycle Rally
The Crossroads Motorcycle Rally of Vermont will be held at Farr's Field in Waterbury on the river. There will be camping, live music, Food, Biker Games, and Flying Hogs fun!  Everyone is welcome. For more information visit TheFlyingHogs.com.

Stowe Summer Arts Festival
The vibrant mountain town of Stowe, Vermont invites you to enjoy the second annual Stowe Summer Arts Festival. Ten summer days packed-full with music, theatre, artist talks and demonstrations, craft and art fairs, cooking classes, specialty food and drink tastings, and more. 

July 30 - August 1
Taste of Stowe Festival
150 exhibitors will display and sell original works in all media including clay, metal, jewelry, wood, clothing, non-wearable fiber, painting, sculpture, glass, graphics and many others will be represented.  Benefits the Helen Day Art Center. Do not miss one of the top ten summer events at the Topnotch Meadow from 10:00am - 5:00pm. Adults $8, Weekend pass $10, Youth $2 and Children FREE.

Vermont Mozart Festival: Fresh Air
Featuring Damon Gupton and the Steve Wilson Trio for a night of Piston, Barber, Copland and jazz.

Helen Day Art Center: Gazebo Concerts
Enjoy a free outdoor concert at Helen Day Art Center's gazebo!  This week, Helen Day welcomes the Morrisville Military and Waterbury Community Combined Bands.

"Different Views" - Original Landscapes Art Opening
Different Views' - Original Landscapes by Guitta Corey, Maggie Siegel, Byron Geigel, Bob Rickard and Janet McKenzie. Special book signing by Janet Mckenzie author of "Holiness & The Feminine Spirit" at the Stowe Craft Gallery.  This show will remain open through August 31st.

Featuring Christopher Wilkins, Rachel Barton Pine and an encore display of fireworks.

August 8-10
Laughing Moon Chocolates: Fall Foliage Apple Festival
Friday, Saturday and Sunday chocolatiers at Laughing Moon will be dipping Champlain Orchards apples in fresh, buttery caramel and chocolate and topping them with Stowe made Mitzi’s granola, pecans, almonds and more! Demonstrations are at 2pm each day. Stop after the craft show for a free sample.

Vermont Winery and Vineyard Open House Weekend featuring Vermont Cheesemaker'
Mark your calendars! Members of the VT Grape and Wine Council are planning to hold the first ever Vermont Winery and Vineyard Open House Weekend. The Open House Weekend is a public celebration of Vermont made wines and an opportunity for the public to visit one or more vineyards or wineries throughout the state.

August 12-28
Waterbury Festival Players present 'Unnecessary Farce'
Two cops. Three crooks. Eight doors. Go. In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next-door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there's some confusion as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes.

August 13-15
52nd Stowe Antique and Classic Car Meet
Over 800 antique & classic cars on display. Food concessions, giant automotive Flea Market, car corral. Saturday’s Fashion judging contest, antique car parade through town. Stowe, Vermont has hosted the Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts, Inc. Antique and Classic Car Meet for more than 50 years, and there’s a reason why thousands of classic car aficionados return year after year.

August 15
JCOGS 'Nearly New' Fundraising Sale
Join us at JCOGS in Stowe from 10:00am - 3:00pm for our 'Nearly New' fundraising sale.  JCOGS is now accepting donated new or gently used items in great condition for this outdoor, under the tent sales event.  Event will be held rain or shine.

August 18 - September 4
Stowe Theatre Guild Presents The Sound of Music
In Salzburg, Austria, Maria, a woman studying to become a nun, is sent from her convent to be the governess to seven children of a widowed naval commander, Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp. The children, initially hostile and mischievous, come to like her, and the woman finds herself falling in love with the captain.

Music Festival of the Americas at Stowe
The Music Festival of the Americas at Stowe will expand to FOUR nights of exquisite music next summer.  Once again, Music Director Alondra de la Parra will be joined by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas and by exceptional musical talent.  The Music Festival of the Americas at Stowe is honored to have the continued support of Placido Domingo and the Washington National Opera.

August 21
Star Chef Food & Wine Show to Benefit Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger
The Star Chef Food & Wine Show is an annual “round-up” of top U.S. culinary talent at a spectacular tasting event in Stowe, Vermont. Now in its second year, the event draws top chef-talent, including renowned stars of the restaurant world from Vermont and beyond, each creating signature dishes in a stand-out showcase of effortless, delicious and memorable meals.

The event will also spotlight a number of national and international winemakers. All profits from the Star Chef Food & Wine Show will go to the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger. For more information, visit www.vtnohunger.org.

Stowe Land Trust Maple Run Ride
Stowe Land Trust is holding an evening mountain bike ride in Sterling Forest.  Come enjoy miles of single track maintained by the Stowe Mountain Bike Club on land conserved by Stowe Land Trust and owned and managed by the Town.  Visit www.stowelandtrust.org for details.

Jazz & Jive 2010
Enjoy an evening of dining and swing, jazz, and rock & roll to the strains of New England favorite Joey Leone’s Chop Shop Band hosted by the Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa. Participate in a silent and live auction during the event, both offering a chance to take home fabulous jewelry, spa packages, weekend getaways, art and other gifts donated by local businesses.

100 on 100 Relay at Trapp Family Lodge
The 100 on 100 Relay is a team based distance running experience. The event starts early in the morning and most participants finish between 8:30pm - 10:30pm. The total distance is 100 miles and the course follows scenic route 100 the entire way. Our course displays all the angles Vermont has to offer from small towns and farms, to mountains and lakes. This event serves as a charity fundraiser for Vermont based youth charities that promote active and healthy lifestyles in support of self-esteem development.

Stowe Trail Race Series: Town Loops 5k Stampede
The second run in the "Race for a Reason" series departs and returns from the Golden Eagle Resort on Saturday, August 28th highlighting the extensive network of trails known as the “town loops”.  These trails traverse Macutchan Town Forest as well as neighboring properties that generously permit public access.

Stowe Land Trust (SLT) and AbilityPLUS have joined together to present the 2010 Stowe Trail Race Series – Run for a Reason. This is an opportunity for all who love the outdoors to come together to support two important causes with all proceeds going to sustain the mission of both organizations. The premier race series highlights the unique lands conserved by SLT, keeping them open to the public for recreation. AbilityPLUS opens the door to outdoor recreation for everyone, regardless of their individual abilities.

Join Stowe Performing Arts in welcoming the United States Air Force Band of Liberty to their 'Music in the Meadow' series! Free to the public.

September 17-19
20th Annual British Invasion Car Show
North America's largest British Classic Sports Car and Motorcycle Event! This year's featured marques are Rolls Royce, Bentley, Austin Healey and Triumph Motorcycles. Experience British cultural activities, shops, crafts, Auto Jumble and the Car Corral. The participants are primarily from the US and Canada with over 600 cars on field, and approximately 1000 total. This event is "A Four Day Celebration and Salutation to the Great British Motorcar and all manner of other things British."

September 18-19
The 12th Annual Celebration of the Vine Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival is held on the 18th and 19th of September and includes a variety of events, from wine tasting to live music, with activities that will appeal to all ages.

Wine Festivities Include:

  • Grape picking from the vine
  • Viewing crushing and pressing
  • Grape stomping contest
  • Live blues music
  • Historical farming demonstrations
  • Clowns, face painting, hayrides, games and llamas
  • And Much, Much More!!!

September 22 - October 9
Stowe Theatre Guild Presents The Light in the Piazza
In 1953 the beautiful, twenty-six-year-old, although almost childish Clara Johnson and her mother Margaret Johnson are visiting Tuscany, in Italy. As they are walking in a plaza, a breeze carries Clara's hat away, only to be chased and returned by the handsome young Italian Fabrizio Naccarelli. A romance begins between Clara and Fabrizio. Maragaret, seemingly a very protective mother, tries to keep the lovers apart.

September 24-26
14th Annual Oktoberfest
Stowe's Jackson Ice Arena will be transformed into a Bavarian village for this annual celebration of harvests and fall foliage. From oompah bands to authentic German foods to freshly brewed Vermont beers to pumpkin and face painting -- there's something for every "villager" -- young and old.  Voted a 'Top 10 Event in Vermont' for 2010!

  • Sept 25th: 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. - Oktoberfest party, with free live music and dancing
  • Sept 26th: 10:00 a.m.- parade; 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. - Oktoberfest party
  • Sept 27th: 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. , Oktoberfest festivities continue!

October 9-11
28th Annual Stowe Foliage Arts Festival
Stowe always celebrates Vermont’s Foliage season with an exclamation point and that exclamation point is The Stowe Foliage Art and Craft Festival. Nestled between the mountains and the resplendent foliage, the white Camelot tents make for a perfect setting for an event. Many attendees make a point of making lodging reservations for this Columbus Day Weekend event. Since it is also Canadian Thanksgiving, be sure to book well in advance.

October 20-31
Stowe Theatre Guild Presents All in the Timing
All in the Timing is a collection of one-act plays by the American playwright David Ives.  They are short, comedic, and frequently employ wordplay.
