Activities in the Great Outdoors

Explore together in Stowe

Alpine Skiing & Snowboarding  - Stowe Mountain Resort, aptly known as the “Ski Capital of the East”, boasts a summit elevation of 4,395 feet (highest in VT), 48 ski trails, 13 lifts including an 8-person high-speed gondola, an average annual snowfall of 333 inches and 80% snowmaking coverage.  Not to mention a number of great places to dine. Don’t miss a romantic meal at The Cliff House.

Cross-country Skiing & Snowshoeing – Enjoy the largest network of groomed terrain at three inter-connected touring centers complete with rentals and lessons. Just a short walk from the Inn, the Stowe Recreation Path provides another option for a flatter more gentle terrain. Guided snowshoe tours are available through Umiak Outfitter.

Sleigh Rides – The quintessential Vermont winter experience! You will love being whisked across open meadows and through snowy forests while taking in the lovely landscapes.  More information at Trapp Family Lodge and Gentle Giants.

Ice Skating – Stowe has an indoor ice skating rink, Jackson Arena, located in the heart of the village. Operating from early November through late March, the rink offers public skating daily and skate rentals. While a roof overhead and warm lobby area await you, the rink has open-air sides, so dress warmly.

Dog Sledding – Mush! Eden Mountain Dog Sledding is the place to go for an authentic dog sledding experience. This working kennel with twenty five Alaskan Huskies is tucked in Vermont’s best snowbelt and provides ten miles of private trails exclusively for dog sledding.
