Vermont is one of the most popular destinations in the United States, being the vacation spot of choice for many Americans, but for lots of foreigners as well. Also known as the Green Mountain state, Vermont has great resorts, breathtaking scenery and views, lots of wildlife and great places to go out and have a drink or dinner. The great thing about the Green Mountain state is that you can enjoy it all year round, so whenever you want to get away for a couple of days or maybe longer, you can go there, because no matter what season it is, it's still gorgeous.
There are plenty of things to see in Vermont, starting with the Green Mountain National Forest, which has a lot of wilderness areas to offer, as well as camping areas and plenty of hiking trails. If you get there, you should check out some of the very famous Green Mountain state landmarks, like the Robert Frost Trail, Lake Dunmore or the Texas Falls Recreation area. One of the other interesting things to do while in the Green Mountain state is enjoying one of the many scenic drives. The best one is the part of the Route 100 that goes from Killington to Waitsfield and that borders the Green Mountain National Forrest. And don't forget to add Lake Champlain to the must-see list. This lake is very long and deep, but quite narrow and it offers some amazing scenery. It also has a couple of very beautiful islands which are very popular as well, and from there you can see the Green Mountain to the east and the New York's Adirondacks to the west. Last but not least, the Green Mountain state is famous for its covered bridges, which are quite beautiful and impressive, and there are a lot of them, so it shouldn't be very difficult to find one.
